Get Paid To Replace Your Grass

Less water used on landscaping leaves more for our lakes and reservoirs.

What is the Utah Water Savers Landscape Incentive Program?

Utah Water Saver's Landscape Incentive Program offers up to $3 per square foot of lawn you replace with water-efficient landscaping. Landscaping project options include park strip, side yard, and full yard conversions. Commercial projects, irrigation retrofit, and tree-planting incentives are also available in certain areas.

How Does Sod Ripper Help?

We want to make this process as smooth as possible. We will come to your property, measure, give you an estimate, help you with your landscape incentive application, and then get you started by ripping out your sod and giving you a blank canvas to work with.

We can also help you install drip irrigation or plant the ground cover if you need it. We want to help you make this project as affordable as possible.

How do you qualify?

To be eligible for the program:

  • The applicant must live in a qualifying city. Click here to see eligible cities.

  • Lawn removal projects must have living, maintained grass at the time of the applying for the program and for the first project inspection. Dormant lawn is eligible, neglected lawn is not.

  • Work on the landscaping project must not have started until after the conservation technician has conducted an in-person or virtual inspection of the project. This inspection is arranged through the submission of the application.

Program requirements vary based on where you live and will be specified upon applying.

Grass has its place but doesn’t need to be everywhere.

Reducing or replacing your grass has many benefits. Here are some of our favorites.

  • The average lawn in Utah requires 3,000 gallons of water every time you turn on your sprinklers. That’s 40 bathtubs full- 3 times a week.

  • Save money on your water bills

  • Less Maintenance

  • Add color and biodiversity to your yard
